Houston Person and Ron Carter are recorded beautifully on this album. You feel like you're three feet away from them and the playing is wonderful. They obviously enjoyed making this. I play this CD over and over. One of very favorites. This is a desert-island disc for me.5/5(1).

Ron Carter - bass Houston Person is one of the last in a long line of thick-toned tenors who display soul in every note they play while bassist Ron Carter's versatility is legendary (it seems as if he has spent half of his life in recording studios).
  7. Shakabei says:
Saxophonist Houston Person and bassist Ron Carter have a duo partnership that goes back at least as far as their two recordings, Something in Common and Now's the Time!
  8. Mazutilar says:
Houston Person is a throwback - he plays modern jazz, but builds it all around the melody. Ron Carter shows what a bass can do in outstanding hands, outside its usual roll. The two have an almost kharmic connection in their approach to these tunes and the interplay between them. Really good, instinctively interesting jazz, IMO/5(13).
